Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon field hockey team tallied two goals in the final eight minutes of the contest to rally past Wilson 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
The Phoenix (6-6) scored in the 27th minute and held a 1-0 lead at halftime. Wilson still held the lead with less than 10 minutes left in the game.
Freshman Rachel Gist (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork) secured a loose ball and registered the tying goal with 7:17 remaining. It was the fourth score of the season for Gist.
Sophomore Victor Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) gave the Yellow Jackets (9-6) the lead with 3:05 remaining on an assist by junior Kaitee Nicholas (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) as the home team held on for a 2-1 victory.
R-MC held a 22-8 advantage in shots, including 8-4 in shots on goal. Nicholas and senior Mackenzie Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) led the Yellow Jackets with six shots, while Cappadora added five shots.
Sophomore Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) recorded three saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to ODAC action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at Washington and Lee.
