COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior goalkeeper
Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Region VI Second Team.
The reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year finished with career-bests in saves (155), save percentage (.876), goals allowed per game (1.14) and shutouts (nine). In anchoring nine shutouts, the junior guided her team to the most in a single season in the history of the program, including the postseason.
After stopping 155 of her 178 shots faced, Ambrogi-Torres' .876 save percentage ranked second in the nation. Furthermore, her 155 total saves and 8.16 saves per game were good for 16th and 24th in the country, respectively.
Ambrogi-Torres helped Randolph-Macon reach 12 wins, which marks the highest number of wins in a single season, including the postseason, since the 2010 Yellow Jackets team. Additionally, with Ambrogi-Torres in the cage, the Yellow Jackets' defense only allowed three-or-more goals scored in two of the team's 19 games played in 2025.
