Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) recorded her 10th double-double with 21 points and 19 rebounds as the first-place Randolph-Macon women's basketball team outlasted Emory & Henry 85-75 Saturday afternoon in ODAC action at Crenshaw Gymnasium for its ninth straight win.
The Yellow Jackets (14-2, 7-1 ODAC) jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead in the game's first six minutes before the Wasps (8-9, 3-5 ODAC) used a 17-5 spurt to tie the game at 17-17 with 10:55 left in the first half. R-MC pushed the lead back to eight at 28-20 with six minutes remaining in the period before eventually taking a 36-32 lead at intermission. Anderson had 12 points and nine rebounds in the first half, while Karina Farr put up 10 points and grabbed 10 boards for E&H. R-MC went 11 for 17 from the free throw line in the first stanza.
E&H took its first lead at 44-43 five minutes into the second half and led 46-43 before R-MC scored five straight to take a 48-46 advantage. Kristie Langley hit a three-pointer for the Wasps for a 59-57 edge, their last lead of the contest. Junior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) nailed a three-pointer with eight minutes remaining to give R-MC the lead for good at 60-59. It sparked an 18-6 run as the Yellow Jackets took a 75-65 advantage on their way to an 85-75 victory.
Livermon finished with 18 points, while senior Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) added 16 and junior Khajae Hester (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) tallied 15, including 13 from the free throw line.
R-MC went 35 for 47 from the charity stripe, while E&H went 15 for 24.
Farr finished with 17 points and 16 boards for the Wasps.
Randolph-Macon hits the road on Tuesday, Jan. 27 with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest at Randolph.
