Box Score SALEM, Va. - Junior goalkeeper Shannon McMurray (Stafford, Va.) recorded 13 saves in the shutout as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team blanked Roanoke 3-0 Saturday afternoon to kick off ODAC play.
McMurray recorded eight saves in the first half and five in the second stanza.
Senior Catherine Pricone (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee) scored 16 minutes into the match to give the Yellow Jackets (2-6, 1-0 ODAC) a 1-0 advantage at intermission.
R-MC added to its lead in the second half. Junior Mackenzie Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) scored in the 47th minute to make it 2-0 before senior Carrie Jacobs (Orange, Va./Orange County) finished the scoring with a goal in the 56th minute to make it 3-0.
The Yellow Jackets held an 18-15 advantage in shots, including 9-5 in the second half. Pricone paced R-MC with five shots, all on goal. Jacobs and Turner each had four shots for the Yellow Jackets.
The Maroons (4-4, 0-2 ODAC) had 14 penalty corners to eight for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 1, with an ODAC home contest against Shenandoah at 4 p.m.
