CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Seniors Carrie Jacobs (Orange, Va./Orange County) and Rachael Gardner (Rapidan, Va./Orange County) both scored first-half goals as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team won at Wilson to record its first victory of the season.

Jacobs broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 19th minute to give the Yellow Jackets (1-6) a 1-0 lead. It was her team-leading third goal of the season. Gardner gave R-MC a 2-0 lead with her first goal of the season in the 20th minute on an assist by freshman Haley McMahon (Fredericksburg, Va.).

The Yellow Jackets held a 15-5 advantage in penalty corners as well as a 15-4 edge in shots, including 9-3 in shots on goal. Senior Olivia Newman (Orange, Va./Orange County) led R-MC with six shots and four shots on goal. Sophomore Katiee Nicholas (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) added five shots and two shots on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Shannon McMurray (Stafford, Va.) registered three saves in recording the shutout.

The Yellow Jackets return to ODAC action on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at Roanoke.
