Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) had five hits on the day, but the Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped an ODAC doubleheader at Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (13-11, 8-5) lost 7-6 in the nightcap after falling 16-0 in the opener.
Keeler went 3 for 3 in Game 1 and followed that by going 2 for 5 with one run and one RBI.
R-MC built a 6-2 lead in the top of the sixth of the nightcap. Keeler had a run-scoring single in the first and sophomore Nicholas Maiolo (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) added an RBI double in the top of the first before the Hornets (19-5, 8-4) added single runs in the first and second to tie it at 2-2.
Maiolo gave the Yellow Jackets a 3-2 lead with a run-scoring single in the third. Junior Sid Harvey (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) drove in runs in the fourth and sixth as R-MC took a 6-2 advantage.
Lynchburg rallied for five in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good.
The Yellow Jackets return to Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park on Sunday, April 6 for a 1 p.m. ODAC doubleheader against Roanoke.
