Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Jason Andrews (Hereford, Md./Hereford) scored three second-half goals as Randolph-Macon nipped Guilford in ODAC men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers (5-5, 0-5) scored the game's first four goals, two in the first quarter and two in the second quarter. Junior Nolan Clark (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) broke through for the Yellow Jackets (6-5, 2-2) with 2:16 remaining and senior Justin Butler (Ocean City, Md./Worcester Prep) added a goal with 33 seconds left as R-MC pulled with two at 4-2 at the break.
Guilford scored the first goal of the second half to give the home team a 5-2 advantage before the Yellow Jackets scored three straight to knot the score at 5-5. After the Quakers regained the lead at 6-5, Andrews netted his second goal with two minutes remaining in the third quarter to level the score at 6-6 heading into the final period.
Sophomore Ryan Davidson (Logan Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional) scored just over a minute into the fourth quarter to give R-MC its first lead of the contest. Andrew netted his third goal with 11 minutes remaining to give the Yellow Jackets an 8-6 advantage. Guilford scored two minutes later, but neither team scored over the final nine minutes.
Sophomore Nick Benhoff (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) had one goal and led R-MC with three assists.
Freshman Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) registered nine saves, while sophomore Thomas Smith (Richmond, Va./Benedictine) recorded a pair of saves in three minutes of play.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Roanoke on Wednesday, April 9 for a 7:00 p.m. ODAC contest.
