ASHLAND, Va. – In front of a packed Hugh Stephens Field, the Randolph-Macon baseball team finished their ODAC regular season with a two game sweep over Guilford College (8-7, 3-2).

In game one the Yellow Jackets (21-13, 14-6 ODAC) took off with four runs in the first, but the Quakers 19-20, 9-11 ODAC) responded with a four run rally of their own to establish the 5-4 edge in the second. Down 6-4 in the fourth, R-MC strung together three runs on three hits from Stuart Brown (Midlothian, VA / Trinity) (1-for-7, 1 run, 1 RBI), Christian Sanderson (1-for-6, 1 run), and Jordan Schmeer (4-for-9, 2 runs, 4 RBI) to regain the 7-6 lead.

GC posted one run in the fifth to knot the game 7-7 before the Jackets notched a run on a Sid Harvey (Ashburn, VA / Stone Bridge) (2-for-3, 1 RBI) single that brought home Nick Maiolo (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) (2-for-7, 2 runs, 2 RBI) for the 8-7 lead.

R-MC would hold to win as Nic Phelps (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin) (1-1) took home the victory. Glen McLaughlin (Richmond, VA / Douglas Freeman) was credited with the save (6).

Game two saw four scoreless innings before the Quakers scored one run in fifth. With runners on first and second, Schmeer doubled down the right field line to score Blake Saathoff (Catonsville, MD / Archbishop Spalding) (1 run, 1 RBI) and tie the contest one-all. R-MC tallied two additional runs for the 3-1 edge, and would go on to trump GC 3-2, securing the two game sweep.

Senior lefthander Jamie Hendrick (Chesterfield, VA / J.R. Tucker) (6-1) was credited with the win going 7.1 innings and posting six strikeouts and zero walks. With that victory, Hendrick is tied with former All-American Travis Beazley for fourth all-time in total wins. McLaughlin took home his second save of the day and seventh of the season.
