Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, NC. – The Yellow Jackets (19-12, 12-5) tallied 18 hits, including a solo homerun by Tim Benjamin (Glenelg, MD / Glenelg) (3-for-6) (4) to capture a 9-3 victory over Methodist (NC) this afternoon in non-conference baseball.
Benjamin led the Jackets' offense with three hits, three RBI, and one run alongside designate-hitter Nick Maiolo (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) (3-for-5) who recorded a game-high four RBI. Nate Meiners (Silver Spring, MD / St. John's Prep) kept himself in scoring position finishing the day 5-for-6 with a double. Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) (1-for-4) also logged a double.
MU posted three runs in the first three innings to take the early 3-2 lead. R-MC would outhit the Monarchs 4-3 in that frame and would continue their success at the plate, posting seven additional runs on 15 hits; sealing the 9-3 triumph. Austin Bain (Greensboro, NC / Southeast Guilford) (1-0) notched his first win, throwing five innings. Nic Phelps (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin) was credited with the save.
The Randolph-Macon baseball team returns to action tomorrow April 17, as they travel to Hampden-Sydney for a 4:00 PM ODAC contest.
