Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Yellow Jackets strung together a
three run, four hit rally in the ninth, ultimately falling 9-8 to
Virginia Wesleyan this afternoon in ODAC baseball action.
R-MC (12-9, 7-3 ODAC) captured the early lead after back-to-back
doubles by Blake Saathoff
(Catonsville, MD / Archbishop Spalding) (1-fo-5) and Bryan
Miltenberger (Midlothian, VA / Cosby) to surge the Jackets'
offense. Keeping the ball in play, R-MC was able to capitalize on
Marlin errors and take the 5-1 edge in the second.
VWC posted two three-run innings to take the 7-5 lead in the
seventh. The Yellow Jackets tallied four more hits through the
eighth but were unable to record any runs. Trailing 9-5 in the
ninth, R-MC notched three runs on hits from Tim Benjamin
(Glenelg, MD / Glenelg) (1-for-4), Michael Wallman
(Forest, VA / Jefferson Forest) (1-for-1), Nate Meiners
(Silver Spring, MD / St. John's Prep) (2-for-4), and Mitchell Keeler
(Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) (1-for-4). The Jackets would fall
short, however, and slip to 7-3 in the conference.

The Randolph-Macon baseball team returns to Ashland the
Wednesday April 2 as they host Hampden-Sydney for a 3:30 pm ODAC
contest on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
