ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon Baseball team tallied their second ODAC series sweep downing Eastern Mennonite 13-3 in both games this afternoon on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

The Yellow Jackets (9-6, 5-1) posted 26 runs on 34 hits to bring home their fourth conference win in as many games. The R-MC bats ignited when Travis Lodge (Chesterfield, VA / Matoaca) (1-for-5) recorded his third homerun of the season in the first inning of Game one. The Jackets then notched two more runs to take the 4-0 through four. A four run, four hit, fifth inning rally expanded that lead to 8-1. In that inning Michael Trentham (Midlothian, VA / James River) (3-for-4) and Nate Meiners (Silver Springs, MD / St. John's Prep) (3-for-5) each picked up an RBI while Christian Sanderson (Lynchburg, VA / Jefferson Forest) (3-for-3) added the other two RBI.

R-MC would go on to record five more runs on five hits in the next two innings to hold on to record their first victory of the day. Daniel Byrd (Chesterfield, VA / Cosby) (3-1) took home the win with two strikeouts and one run through six.

EMU (12-8, 0-5) looked to set the tone for Game two, as they scored the first run in the first. The Jackets responded with four runs on six hits to go up 4-2 by the sixth inning. A nine run, seven hit surge in the seventh would give R-MC the 13-3 insurance for the win as the Royals would be unable to respond.

Sanderson led the Jackets' offense going 5-for-6 with five RBI and one run. Trentham and Meiners each were 6-for-8 on the day, recording a total of nine RBI and eight runs. Three of those RBI occurred on Meiners' seventh inning homer to right field. Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) (4-for-10) also added a homerun for R-MC. Senior pitcher Matt Fischgrund (Gloucester, VA / Gloucester) recorded his first win of the year recording seven strikeouts and two runs through six.

The Randolph-Macon Baseball team returns to Ashland tomorrow, March 16 to host York for a 11:30 AM non-conference game on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
