ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team dropped their 2014 home opener as Mary Washington won 13-7 at Day Field.

The Yellow Jackets (0-1) took the early lead as Ryan Davidson (Logan Township, NJ / Kingway Regional) scored the first goal of the day to give R-MC the 1-0 edge. The Eagles (2-0) would respond to take the score to 1-1 by the end of the period.

R-MC was outshot 14-7 in the second period as the Eagles picked up 5 goals to take the 6-1 lead at intermission. The Jackets would go on to win the third period by outscoring UMW 4-3 with goals by Dan Gallucci (Langley, VA / Langley) (1), Joseph Edwards (1), and Jason Andrews (Hereford, MD / Hereford) (2) to come within 3 goals at 8-5.

The Eagles would advance their lead in the final period by outscoring R-MC 4-2 for the 13-7 win, but not before a second goal by Andrews and the final Yellow Jackets goal by Justin Butler (Ocean City, MD / Worcester).

Freshman goalkeeper Brian Davies (Lynchburg, VA / E.C. Glass) finished the day with 11 saves.

The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team travel to Catholic this Saturday, February 22 for a 2:30 pm matchup. The Yellow Jackets return to Ashland Wednesday, March 5 as they host Marywood at 2:30 pm.
