Box Score RICHMOND, Va. — Senior Catherine Pricone (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee) registered a goal and an assist as the fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon field hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision against No. 5 Washington and Lee Saturday afternoon in ODAC Championship quarterfinal action.
The Generals (11-7) scored twice in the first period before Pricone found senior Carrie Jacobs (Orange, VA/Orange County) in the 24th minute. The Generals scored again in the 31st minute to bring the score to 3-1 at halftime.
Randolph-Macon (6-12) wasted no time in the second period, scoring within two minutes. Senior Olivia Newman (Orange, VA/Orange County) found senior Rachael Gardner (Rapidan, VA/Orange County) in the 37th minute to bring the score to 3-2.
The Generals scored again in the 56th minute, leaving the Jackets facing a 4-2 deficit. Newman found Pricone in the 63rd minute, putting Randolph-Macon within one goal.
R-MC and W&L both took 21 shots. Jacobs led the Yellow Jackets with seven shots, three of which were on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Shannon McMurray (Stafford, VA) tallied six saves and freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, VA) recorded two saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon finished its season at 6-12 overall and 5-3 in the ODAC.
