Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Senior Carrie Jacobs (Orange, Va./Orange County) recorded three goals as Randolph-Macon posted a 6-2 ODAC field hockey win at Sweet Briar Wednesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (3-8, 2-1 ODAC) scored a pair of goals in the first half. Junior Kali Carroll (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle) snapped a scoreless tie in the 19th minute and sophomore Kaitee Nicholas (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) scored in the 26th minute as R-MC took a 2-0 lead at intermission.
Jacobs tallied her first goal 48 seconds into the second half to give the visitors a 3-0 advantage. Freshman Haley McMahon (Fredericksburg, Va.) assisted on the goal.
The Vixens (0-12, 0-4 ODAC) cut into the lead on a goal in the 44th minute before Jacobs answered in the 62nd and 64th minutes to give R-MC a 5-1 lead. McMahon again provided an assist on Jacobs' third goal.
Sweet Briar added a goal in the 68th minute before freshman Victoria Cappadora (Manchester, Md.) scored for R-MC one minute later to complete the scoring at 6-2.
The Yellow Jackets held a 33-9 advantage in shots. Jacobs led with nine shots, including five on goal.
Freshman Shannon McMurray (Stafford, Va.) recorded three saves in 62 minutes for R-MC.
Kimberly Orchowski scored both goals for the Vixens.
R-MC returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, with a 1 p.m. ODAC home match against Lynchburg.
