Box Score ASHLAND, Va.—The Yellow Jackets recorded their fifth 100+
point victory tonight as they topped Randolph College 115-91
setting a new R-MC record for most 100+ point wins in a season. The
115 point victory also marked a new R-MC single-game scoring
record. In addition, the Yellow Jackets set ODAC records for
free-throws made and attempted with 42-55 (.764).
The closest R-MC has come to this milestone was January 6th,
1996 when the Jackets topped Hollins 114-53.
Sophomores Katie Anderson
(Beaverdam, VA / Patrick Henry) and Lauren
Vugteveen (Midlothian, VA / Amelia Academy), along with senior
Lindsey Sharman (Lynchburg, VA / Brookville) each had
double-doubles helping lead Randolph-Macon (11-3, 4-1 ODAC) past
Randolph (8-6, 2-3 ODAC). Anderson finished the day with a
game-high 23 points, shooting 13-15 from the stripe and pulling
down 14 rebounds. The game marked Anderson's seventh double-double
of the season.
Sharman picked up her first double-double recording 12 points
and 11 boards. She was 4-4 from the free-throw line. Vugteveen also
captured her first double-double of the season with 11 points and
10 rebounds, nailing five frees off the bench.
Taylor
Huber (Ashland, VA / Patrick Henry) finished the day with 18
points shooting 5-18 from the field alongside Sarah Parsons
(Glen Allen, VA / J.R. Tucker) who added 15 while knocking down 8
free-throws.
41 points came from the Yellow Jackets' non-starters including
Stephanie
Staples (Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) who contributed 10 points
shooting 3-4 from the field and nabbing six rebounds. Freshman Taylor
Intermill (Fairfax, VA / Fairfax) added seven points shooting
2-3 behind the arch.
The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team travels to Guilford
College Saturday, January 18th for a 2:00PM ODAC tip-off.
