Box Score ST. MARY'S, Md. – Randolph-Macon outshot Rutgers-Newark 8-6, but fell 2-0 in women's soccer in the second round of the Seahawk Invitational.
Three of the Jackets' eight shots were on goal, but none found the back of the net. Sophomore Meghan O'Neal (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) led R-MC (0-2) with three shots, including one shot on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Blanco (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) recorded a pair of saves for the Jackets.
The Scarlet Raiders (1-0-1) scored five minutes into the contest and added a goal early in the second half.
Sophomore defender Katherine Schwalen (Currituck, N.C./Currituck County) and freshman defender Caroline Hollandsworth (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) both were named to the Seahawk Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 7, with a 2 p.m. contest at North Carolina Wesleyan.
