As a sophomore (2013)... Schwalen played in 17 games, earning 15 starts as a Yellow Jacket forward… In her second season, she named Second Team All-ODAC recording a team-high 4 goals on 27 attempts and 15 shots-on-goal (.556)… She also tallied 2 game-winning goals and 1 assist. Katie was also named a member of the ODAC All-Academic Team.

Personal: Schwalen attended Currituck County High School where she earned three varsity letters in soccer, cross country, indoor track and outdoor track ... She helped lead her team to a 2011 conference championship title in soccer, back-to-back conference champions in outdoor track, and three time conference champion title in cross country ... She also earned All Conference (2010, 2012), team MVP, All Region Advance Women's Soccer Player of the Year (2012) in soccer, All Conference (2010) in cross country, state qualifier in 300m and 4x800m relay in indoor track, and 200m conference champion (2011) in outdoor track ... Katherine was also named to her schools Honor Roll (2008-2012), member of Beta Club, graduated with honors and was ranked 10th in her class ... She intends to major in Political Science ...
