Box Score 2 Lynchburg, VA – Randolph-Macon College Softball dropped two ODAC games to Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets fall to 21-6, while the Hornets improve to 20-5 on the season.
In game one, Lynchburg took advantage of three run third inning followed by a four run fifth to take a 7-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets through five innings.
The Yellow Jackets lit up the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a Sharese Jarvis home run to make the score 7-1, but that is as close as R-MC would get.
Katie Woody led the Yellow Jackets going 2-for-3, while Amanda Sopko went 2-for-4 for the game. Heather Lewis took the loss for R-MC, pitching all six innings and finished with two strike outs.
Lynchburg started game two strong, scoring six runs in the first inning to take a 6-0 lead.
The Yellow Jackets clawed their way back after Jarvis blasted a grand slam that scored Christa Simon, Sopko and Lauryn Nanny. Jenna Best then flied out to center field to score Madison Gilman to pull the Yellow Jackets within one at 7-6.
Lynchburg's Melanie Tenney doubled down the left field line to send home Jessi Hall to give the Hornets the insurance run and the win.
Kristen Dize suffered the loss, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing six earned runs and striking out two.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Sunday, April 7th when they play host to Randolph College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
