Box Score WINCHESTER, VA – Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse (5-7 / 1-3 ODAC) knocked off Shenandoah 20-13 for their first ODAC win of the season Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets host Lynchburg College Wednesday, April 10th at 7:00.
R-MC opened the game with six straight goals from six different players to take an early lead. Dan Gallucci opened the run with score on a pass from Josh Merwin. Merwin then assisted Justin Butler before scores from Robert Fox, Ryan Davidson, Jason Andrews and Nolan Clark capped the run with 3:05 to play.
Randolph-Macon took an 11-4 edge into halftime with four second quarter goals, the final coming from Kyle Snodderly with 2:02 remaining.
After a Merwin score opened the second half, Shenandoah rallied for three straight scores to cut the Yellow Jackets' lead to 12-7 with 6:40 remaining in the third.
Butler ripped a shot to end the Hornets run three minutes later. Butler's goal sparked a 6-1 R-MC run that was capped by two scores from Davidson with 11:14 to play in the game.
Shenandoah went on a 3-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to seven but that would be as close as they would get as Davidson scored a last minute goal to seal Randolph-Macon's 20-13 victory.
Davidson, Andrews and Fox lead all scorers with four goals apiece. Andrews also added four helpers and picked up three ground balls. Butler chipped in with three scores and Merwin had a game high six assists to go with his goal.
Nick Benhoff helped jump start the R-MC offense by winning 18-of-26 face offs. The Yellow Jackets held a 24-12 edge in face offs and won groundballs 49-36.
