Box Score 2 Ashland, VA -- Randolph-Macon College swept Sweet Briar, 17-1 and 15-0 Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improved to 21-4 overall, 6-2 in the ODAC while the Vixens fell to 0-14 overall and 0-10 in the conference. Randolph-Macon has now won 20 or more games in six of the last seven seasons.
The Yellow Jackets used a nine run first inning followed by eight runs in the bottom of the third in game one to cruise to the win. Madison Gilman led R-MC at the plate, going 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sharese Jarvis finished 2-for-4 with one homerun, two runs scored, and five RBI.
Heather Lewis improved to 12-2 in the circle for the Jackets, pitching three innings, striking out five and allowing only one run. Carly Alford relieved her in the final two innings, finishing with two strike outs. Cynthia Schuh took the loss for the Vixens.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through two innings and never looked back. In the bottom of the third, a Michalann Camp double down the left field line sparked a 10 run inning to secure the lead.
Jarvis led the Jackets at the dish, going 2-for-3 with two homeruns, five RBI and two runs. After going deep three times on the day, she now leads the ODAC with twelve homeruns.
Camp belted her first homerun of the season, while Gilman notched her fifth of the season and is now tied for fifth in the conference. Camp finished with four RBI on the day and Gilman chipped in three in the victory.
Kristen Dize earned the win in the circle for R-MC, improving to 7-2 on the year. Jenna Best pitched two innings in relief in the win. Megan Thompson suffered the loss on the mound for Sweet Briar.
The Yellow Jackets are back on the field Saturday, April 6th when they travel to Lynchburg College in a doubleheader set to start at 1:30 p.m.
