Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA – Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse used four goals from Jason Andrews and Ryan Davidson to knock off Randolph College 15-12 Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets travel to Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday, April 24th for a 7:00 contest.
R-MC (7-8 / 3-4 ODAC) notched the scoring column with 12:28 to play in the first when Davidson scored on a pass from Josh Merwin. Andrews tallied a score just 24 seconds later to push the advantage to 2-0.
Randolph's Stephen Allman scored the WildCats first goal to make it 2-1 before Justin Butler and Andrews went for back to back scores to extend the Yellow Jackets' edge to 4-1.
Andrews struck again with 1:43 to play in the first quarter and also found the back of the net for the first goal of the second quarter. Butler extended Randolph-Macon's lead to 7-4 with a score four seconds prior to the halftime buzzer.
The two teams exchanged goals to start the third before two scores from Davidson and a man up goal from Merwin gave the Yellow Jackets their largest lead of the game 11-6.
The WildCats then went on a 4-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull within one on Bobby Crosby's goal with 8:58 remaining.
Tim Rowe ended the Randolph outburst when he ripped a shot 24 seconds later and Ryan Davidson scored at the 6:08 mark to put the game away.
Randolph-Macon held a 37-31 advantage in shots and a 20-11 edge in face offs. Randolph won the groundball battle 35-33.
Andrews finished with four goals and two assists to pace the R-MC offense. Davidson added four goals of his own while Butler finished with three goals and an assist. Nick Benhoff was impressive in the faceoff circle going 20-for-28 and scooping up a game high 16 groundballs.
Thomas Smith improved to 3-1 between the pipes for the Yellow Jackets after stopping 12-of-24 shots on goal.
Andrew Gleitz and Allman tallied four scores each to lead the Wildcats. Cam Davis made nine saves on 24 shots between the pipes.
