Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse used six goals from junior Jason Andrews to knock off Guilford 10-8 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets travel to Randolph College Saturday, April 20th for a 1:00 contest.
Tim Rowe put R-MC (6-8 / 2-4 ODAC) on the board just 49 seconds into the game when he tallied a from Andrews to spark a 4-0 opening run for the Yellow Jackets. Andrews then scored three straight goals of his own, one of them in an extra man advantage, and the final coming with 52 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Guilford notched their first score when Taylor Teodosio found the back of the net seconds before the end of the first quarter.
Juquan Tellis recorded the only second quarter goal with 39 seconds to play in the second to cut the R-MC advantage to 4-2 at half.
After the Quakers pulled within one on an early third quarter goal, Andrews and Robert Fox went for back to back scores to extend the Randolph-Macon edge to 6-3.
GC's Daniel Hughley cut the advantage to two at 8-6 with a buzzer beating goal to end the third period.
Andrews put the game away in the fourth quarter with a pair of scores as Randolph-Macon played strong defense down the stretch to take the game 10-8.
R-MC goalie Thomas Smith went all 60 minutes between the pipes and stopped seven of 15 shots on goal.
Nick Benhoff was 13-for-19 in faceoff opportunities and scooped up a game high six ground balls.
The Yellow Jackets held a 38-25 edge in shots and a 33-24 advantage in ground balls.
