Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Mary Washington scored a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth to get past Randolph-Macon Baseball 3-1 Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday, April 13th when they host Emory and Henry for a 1:00 ODAC doubleheader.
R-MC got on the board in the top of the fifth when Zach Broaddus led off with a single and advanced to second on Mitchell Keeler's sacrifice bunt. A single from the current ODAC Player of the Week Jake Fletcher put runners at the corners before Jeb Weymouth drove in Broaddus with a fielder's choice.
Mary Washington answered in the bottom half when Jono Haught scored Brendan Jones with a groundout.
The Eagles broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from Seth Jordan.
Randolph-Macon loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the eighth but could not push across a run and Mary Washington added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame to win 3-1.
Fletcher paced the Yellow Jackets at the plate going 3-for-5. Broaddus added a pair of hits while Weymouth drove in R-MC's only run.
Brandon Beiler is saddled with the loss after allowing just one earned run in an inning of work. Austin Bain went three innings in the start and scattered three hits without a run while striking out two.
Jordan led the Eagles with a 3-for-4 outing that included an RBI. Connor Lilly and Conner Finnerty both added a pair of singles.
Joe Carleton allowed three hits and no runs over two innings of relief for the win.
