Box Score 2 SALISBURY, MD – Randolph-Macon Softball (9-2) scored a 4-3 win over Wilkes University and a 9-1 victory over Allegheny College to finish the Seagull Classic with a 3-0 record. The Yellow Jackets return to action Thursday, March 14th when they host Averett for a 2:30 doubleheader.
R-MC trailed Wilkes 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth before Katie Woody belted a two run, walk off homerun to give the Yellow Jackets an extra inning win.
After the 4-3 win over Wilkes University to start the day, R-MC squared off against Allegheny College of the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Madison Gilman put the Yellow Jackets on the board first with an RBI groundout to score Christa Simon. Sharese Jarvis then scored on a wild pitch to push the advantage to 2-0.
Randolph-Macon rallied for four runs on four hits and two Gator errors in the top of the fourth. Singles from Woody and Nanny along with Sopko being hit by a pitch loaded the bases for Simon. Simon then ripped a two run single through the right side. Heather Lewis followed with a double down the left field line to plate Simon and Nanny, extending the lead to 7-0.
R-MC tacked on two more runs in the late innings while AC pushed across a run of their own to make the final 9-1.
Heather Lewis picked up the win in both games for the Yellow Jackets, allowing no earned runs and striking out three in the win over Allegheny to improve to 6-1.
