Box Score ASHLAND, VA- Junior Justin Butler netted two goals late in the fourth quarter to complete Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse comeback against Goucher Saturday. The Yellow Jackets scored the final four goals of the game to pick up their second win of the season 9-8.
With R-MC (2-3) trailing by two after three quarters of place, GC (1-3) notched a goal with 11:22 in the fourth quarter to extend their advantage to 8-5.
The Yellow Jackets then began to rally when senior Bobby Bailey found the back of the net on a pass from Jason Andrews with 8:42 to go. Just over a minute later, Tim Rowe took advantage of a man up opportunity and scored to pull Randolph-Macon within one.
With 5:37 remaining, Butler shook the Goucher defense and fired into the back of the net to tie the contest at 8-8.
Butler struck again at the 2:48 mark, scoring unassisted to give Randolph-Macon their first lead since the first quarter 9-8.
The Gophers had several chances to score late but, the Yellow Jackets' goalie Jordan DeVito made two of his 17 saves in the final two minutes to secure R-MC's second victory of the season.
Butler paced Randolph-Macon with three goals on four shots. Robert Fox and Jason Andrews had a goal and an assist each.
Nick Benhoff helped the Yellow Jackets take a 13-of-20 edge in faceoffs by going 9-for-13 and also scooped up six groundballs.
Pierce Ingram led the way for Goucher with three goals while Max Roach chipped in with two. Dylan Zook had a goal and two assists and Sam Morgan added three helpers.
Randolph-Macon returns to action Tuesday, March 5th when they host Aurora at 7:00pm on Day Field.
