Box Score Ashland, VA – Four players score in double-figures as R-MC cruised past Randolph 90-68 in ODAC action on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-5 in conference play, while the WildCats drop to 1-8.
Sarah Parsons led R-MC with 16 points and a game-high four steals on the night, while both Kellie Cortina and Hannah Livermon posted 15 points. Caroline Young had a solid game, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Freshman point guard, Khajae Hester, dished out a season-high 13 assists for the Yellow Jackets.
The WildCats (3-13) were led by Chelsea Tyler, who posted a game-high 20 points and team-high four assists. Abigail Bullins and Allie Druffel each chipped in with eight points. Jensen Hoover pulled in 10 rebounds on the night.
R-MC (4-13) jumped out to an early 15-9 lead following a Cortina three-pointer less than six minutes into play.
The Yellow Jackets extended its lead to 14 at 44-30 with 2:46 to play when Katie Anderson scored three consecutive points.
R-MC maintained a double-digit edge for the remainder of the half behind 62.5% shooting from the floor. The Jackets 20-of-32 shooting helped them take a 53-30 advantage into the intermission.
A Cortina layup at the start of the second stanza continued the R-MC offensive attack and pushed the lead to 25 at 55-30.
R-MC would run its lead to as many as 26 points in the final minutes as the Yellow Jackets would finish the game shooting 54.7% from the field. The Yellow Jackets knocked down nine three-pointers in the win as well.
The Yellow Jackets out rebounded the WildCats 42-36 on the night and forced 21 RC turnovers, including nine steals.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action Thursday January 24th when it travels to Trinity (D.C) for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
