Box Score EMORY, VA – JoBeth White's layup with one second remaining sent Emory & Henry to a, 78-76, ODAC victory over visiting Randolph-Macon on Saturday.
Trailing 76-74 with 1:16 to go in the game, R-MC's Paige Mills forced a steal and was fouled on the offensive end by the Wasps. Mills would drain both free-throws to tie the game at 76.
After both teams traded possessions without scoring, E&H called a timeout with 14 seconds to go in the game. Out of the timeout, E&H missed their initial shot to win, but White was able to get the ball and convert the game-winning bucket.
Randolph-Macon's (2-12 / 2-4 ODAC) Sarah Parsons tied for a game-high with 24 points off the bench. Khajae Hester and Caroline Young each had 10 points for the Yellow Jackets, while Lauren Vugteveen chipped in with eight points.
Young led R-MC with 10 rebounds, while Vugteveen had seven. Randolph-Macon shot 49.2% for the game, making 30-of-61 shots from the field. R-MC dished out 14 assists on the day led by six from Hester.
Jalen McPherson tied with Parsons with 24 points on the afternoon and was one of three Wasps in double-digits. Karina Farr had 19 points and Kristie Langley had 13 for Emory & Henry. E&H (7-7 / 4-2 ODAC) shot 36.2% for the game, making 29-of-80 shots from the field.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Tuesday when it hosts ODAC rival Eastern Mennonite at 7:00 p.m.
