Box Score 2 HARRISONBURG, Va--- R-MC dropped two games in an ODAC doubleheader to close the year against Eastern Mennonite at Harrisonburg High School Wednesday evening. EMU took game one, 6-1 and the nightcap 9-6.
The Yellow Jackets finished the year with a record of 28-12 overall, 12-8 in ODAC play, breaking the school record for conference wins and total wins in a single season.
The Royals (25-11) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game one and never looked back. R-MC scored its only run in the sixth on a solo homerun by Laura Bauer.
R-MC committed four errors in the loss, the most this season.
Heather Lewis took the loss for the Jackets, falling to 13-5 on the year. The junior pitched six innings allowing five runs while striking out five. Lisa Lee picked up the win improving to 10-4.
In game two, Randolph-Macon took the early lead with a run in the top of the first. The Royals responded with seven runs in the second to take the lead.
R-MC plated another run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Lacey Berry. After EMU replied with a run and the Jackets scored on an error, Carolyn Gilbertson belted a three run homerun scoring Sharese Jarvis and Lauryn Nanny in the top of the seventh, but the Jackets couldn't pull off the rally.
Nanny led the Jackets with two hits and two runs while Gilbertson hit her first homer of the year to finish with three RBI.
Kristen Dize was saddled with the loss after pitching all six innings while striking out four. Molly Smith improved to 7-2 for EMU on the hill.
The Yellow Jackets earned the third seed and will play a rematch against the sixth seeded Royals in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament. The two squads will square off Friday, April 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
