Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Luke Heinsohn 's goal just under two minutes into overtime propelled Washington and Lee to a 14-13 victory over Randolph-Macon in Men's Lacrosse action.
R-MC finishes the regular season 9-7 and 3-4 in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets will await the results of the remaining league games on Saturday to see who and where they will play their ODAC Tournament quarterfinal game.
With W&L leading 1-0 in the first quarter, the Jackets got back-to-back goals from Jake Leddy and Patrick Egan to move in front 2-1 with five minutes to go in the first quarter.
After Heinsohn evened the game at 2-2, R-MC reeled off the next four goals, pushing its lead to 6-2 when Egan scored with 7:35 to play in the first-half.
Jack Switala and Scott Meehan scored to draw the Generals to within two at 6-4 before Leddy struck on a pass from Tyler Midwinter to make it 7-4 with 1:31 left in the second quarter.
W&L responded with a goal 26 seconds after Leddy's score, but Tim Rowe would send the Jackets to the locker room up 8-5 when he tallied goal with just nine seconds left on the clock.
A Rowe score with 2:13 into the start of the second-half gave R-MC a 9-5 advantage, but Washington and Lee would finish the quarter on a 4-1 run with Cameron Dabir making it 10-9 with 2:31 left in the third quarter.
R-MC was able to open up its lead to three again when Midwinter scored with just over a minute to go in the third, and Josh Merwin scored at the 8:46 mark of the fourth quarter to make it 12-9.
Washington and Lee scored the next four goals, taking a 13-12 lead on a man-up goal by Meehan with 3:11 to go in regulation.
Brett Austin scored the equalizer 21 seconds later to send the game to overtime where R-MC had the first possession, but W&L keeper Warren Berenis was able to turn back the Jackets' lone scoring opportunity of the extra time.
Leddy finished the game with a hat trick, while Egan, Austin and Midwinter all had two goals on the day for R-MC.
