Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Mary Washington scored seven unanswered goals to erase a halftime deficit and top Randolph-Macon 12-8 in men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.
R-MC (8-3) got three goals and an assist from Jason Andrews, while Tim Rowe and Patrick Egan (2g, 1a) each scored two goals in the loss. Goalkeeper Jason Crawford made 19 saves in net for R-MC, while Sherif Dorghoud grabbed a team-high four groundballs.
UMW (7-2) jumped out to a 4-2 first quarter lead after a Paul Tunick strike with just over three minutes to go in the opening frame.
Rowe cut the Jackets deficit to one with a goal with just 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter of play and game remained that way until there was 7:22 to go in the half when Rowe scored to tie the game at 4-4.
Tyler Midwinter would give R-MC its first lead of the game 49 seconds later on a man-up goal off a pass from Josh Merwin.
A Patrick Egan goal with 1:11 remaining in the first-half sent the Yellow Jackets to the intermission with a 6-4 advantage.
The Eagles started the second-half scoring when Sean Dacey struck at the 12:13 mark and proved be the first of three UMW goals in a span of 1:20 to make the score 7-6.
Mary Washington scored four more times, taking an 11-6 lead on a Tunick goal with 8:49 to go in the game.
Randolph-Macon will return to ODAC action on Saturday when it travels to Guilford for a 1:00 p.m. game.
