ASHLAND, VA -- The freshmen duo of Jake Bram and Brandon Beiler held Mary Washington to just five hits as Randolph-Macon topped the Eagles 9-1 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action in Ashland.

Bram (1-2) started the game on the hill for R-MC (11-11-1) and tossed the first six innings, allowing just one run on three hits, while striking out six and walking one to pick up his first collegiate win.   Beiler allowed just a pair of hits in earning the three inning save.

With UMW (7-11-1) leading 1-0 in the top of the second inning, Tim Benjamin doubled down the left field line with one out.  Zach Broaddus then singled to center field; with Benjamin coming home to tie the score after the ball was misplayed in the outfield.

R-MC took the lead for good the next inning when Jeb Weymouth singled with one out then came around to score when Mary Washington starter Ben Sisk threw the ball away.

With the score 4-1 in favor of R-MC, Brian Jordan singled with one out and Jake Fletcher followed with a homerun to left field to push the Jackets' advantage to 6-1 after six innings.

Randolph-Macon tacked on three insurance runs in its half of the eighth inning taking advantage of a pair of Eagle errors and getting RBI singles from Fletcher and Jon Witt to make it 9-1.

R-MC was led by Fletcher who had two hits and four RBI, while Broaddus and Weymouth each had a pair of hits on the day as well.

Kevin Yarnell had two hits and an RBI for Mary Washington while Sisk was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs in six innings. 

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to North Carolina Wesleyan for a 3:30 pm game.
