WASHINGTON D.C. --- Catholic picked up two victories over Randolph-Macon College Thursday afternoon at CUA Softball field. CU defeated R-MC, 4-1 in game one and took game two by a score of 8-7 in eight innings. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 10-5 on the year, while the Cardinals improved to10-5.

CU earned the victory in game one behind a no-hitter from a pitcher Erin McMakin. The only R-MC run came in the top of the sixth when Megan Shepherd reached on an error. She later scored when Michalann Camp reached on the second error of the inning by Taylor Stockinger.

Stockinger redeemed herself at the plate in the bottom half of the frame, belting a three run homerun to lead CU to the victory. She led the Cardinals at the plate, going 3-for-4 in the contest.

Heather Lewis was marked for the loss, falling to 6-2 on the season. The junior lefty pitched all six innings allowing four earned runs and striking out four.

In game two, Catholic raced out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Stockinger sparked the run with a two run double and the Cardinals added consecutive RBI singles to go up early.

The Yellow Jackets began chipping away at the lead in the next inning when Laura Bauer drove in Lauryn Nanny with a sacrifice fly to right field.

R-MC struck again in the fifth when Sharese Jarvis singled to center field, scoring Megan Shepherd. Jarvis then stole second and later scored on an RBI single to right field by Amber McCauley, cutting the lead to one.

Catholic added a run in the bottom half of the frame, but left two runners on to end the inning.

Carolyn Gilbertson scored off a triple to right field by Nanny in the next inning. In the seventh, R-MC tied the game off consecutive RBI singles by Camp and Gilbertson. Camp later scored on a wild pitch to give R-MC its first lead of the ballgame.

Stockinger tied the score on a double to centerfield to force extra innings and Catholic scored on an error in the eighth to seal the victory.

Jarvis led the Jackets at the plate, finishing 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base. Stockinger batted 2-for-5 with four RBI to lead the Cardinals.
