Box Score ASHLAND, VA -- Randolph-Macon held Wooster to just four shots in the second-half as the Yellow Jackets broke open what was a two goal lead at the half and earned a 14-7 victory over the Fighting Scots Sunday afternoon in Ashland.
R-M C (4-2) was led by hat tricks from Brett Austin and Tim Rowe. The Jackets also got a pair of goals from Patrick Egan and Tyler Midwinter. Midwinter and Justin Butler each had two assists in the win for Randolph-Macon as well.
Midwinter got R-MC on the board just 55 seconds into the game on a feed from Jason Andrews. With the score tied 1-1, Austin andJake Leddy (1g, 1a) would score back-to-back goals to give the Jackets a 3-1 advantage with 7:20 on the clock.
Wooster's (3-2) Max Rubin would strike just five seconds after Leddy's goal to cut the R-MC lead to 3-2, but R-MC would have a 5-2 lead after the first stanza following a goal Midwinter and an Egan strike with just 12 seconds to go.
Randolph-Macon pushed its lead to 7-2 after Josh Merwin and Rowe scored to open up the second quarter of play.
Wooster rallied, scoring four of the final five goals of the second stanza to send the teams to the intermission with R-MC up 8-6.
The score would stay that way until Austin scored with just under 10 minutes to go in the third quarter and started what proved to be the first of six unanswered goals by R-MC in the second-half.
Egan followed Austin's goal and Rowe scored two goals in the final two minutes of the third to make it 12-6 in favor of Randolph-Macon after three quarters.
Jason Crawford made seven stops in net for R-MC which outshout Wooster 38-22.
The Fighting Scots got two goals from Tom Herold and Matt Magoon turned away 13 R-MC shots in the cage.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Christopher Newport for 7:00 p.m. game.
