Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- Randolph-Macon College topped Emory & Henry, 77-58 Saturday afternoon in Crenshaw Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets improved to 12-9 overall, 10-6 in the ODAC. The Wasps fell to 2-14, 1-13 in conference play on the year.
Maggie Roy led R-MC with 19 points, knocking down 5-of-8 shots from behind the arc. Molly Brown added a season-high 18 points and seven rebounds, while Sarah Parsons chipped in 16 points and seven boards after earning the start today. Senior Taylor Wieczorek finished with 14 points on the afternoon and Jillian Asay dished out a game-high six assists for the Jackets.
R-MC jumped out to an early 21-10 lead after Roy drilled her third three of the half just seven minutes into play. The Yellow Jackets would lead by as many as 16 at 26-10 after Asay found Wieczorek for an open layup at the 9:27 mark.
The Wasps then outscored the Jackets 18-9 down the stretch, cutting the lead to 35-28 on a three by Valerie Beale as time expired in the first half.
At the start of the second stanza, Randolph-Macon quickly pushed the lead back to double-digits, scoring five straight points to open the period.
Both teams would trade baskets over the next 10 minutes, before R-MC put together a 14-3 run to push the advantage to 21 at 68-47 off two free-throws by Wieczorek with six minutes remaining.
The Yellow Jackets would lead by as many as 23 before closing out the contest with a 77-58 win.
As a team, R-MC shot 38.7% overall, while hitting 8-of-13 (61.5%) shots from downtown. The Jackets out-rebounded the Wasps, 48-35, including a 21-12 edge on the offensive glass. Both teams combined to shoot 50 free-throws on the contest.
Kristie Langley scored a career-high 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting for E&H. Carlyta Hamm added nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets look to continue their winning ways, Tuesday February 7th when they play host to Washington and Lee in ODAC action. Tip-off is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
