Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Brett Austin scored five goals as Randolph-Macon topped Hood, 17-5, Saturday afternoon in men's lacrosse action.
Joining Austin in the scoring leaders was Tim Rowe and Tyler Midwinter who each had hat tricks in the win, while Patrick Egan and Jake Leddy each had a pair of goals in the victory. Defensively, Jason Crawford made 13 saves.
Joe Liberto and Jason Andrews helped R-MC in the possession game, grabbing five ground balls apiece for the Yellow Jackets who outshot the Blazers 42-32 on the afternoon.
Randolph-Macon (1-1) scored the first three goals of the game in the final 3:35 of the first quarter. With two scores coming off the stick of Austin in man-up opportunities.
After the teams exchanged goals, R-MC closed the first-half on a 5-1 run capped by a Leddy strike with just under a minute to go that sent the Jackets to intermission up 9-2.
R-MC scored the first four goals of the second stanza, opening up a 13-2 advantage when Josh Merwin tallied a man-up goal with 4:56 left.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Lebanon Valley for a 3:30 p.m. game
