Newman, Pricone Lead R-MC Field Hockey to a 5-0 Victory Over Sweet Briar

ASHLAND, VA -- Olivia Newman and Catherine Pricone scored two goals each to lead Randolph-Macon Field Hockey to a 5-0 shutout over Sweet Briar in conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The women remain undefeated in the ODAC, posting their fifth straight conference win.

The match looked to be a defensive battle as neither team scored a goal in the first half. 

In the second stanza, R-MC recorded 5 goals, each within 20 minutes. Pricone was the first Yellow Jacket to score when Colby Kinsella connected a perfect pass in the 42nd minute. Kinsella followed less than five minutes later to notch an unassisted goal.

Three minutes later, Lauren Seal posted her first assist as she connected with Pricone for her second goal of the match.

Newman closed out the match with the last two goals, unassisted in the 61st minute and assisted by Seal in the 65th minute. 

R-MC dominated the offensive end, registering 39 shots and putting 26 on goal. The Yellow Jackets also held a staggering 24-0 edge in penalty corners. 

The ladies will be back in action when they play Rhodes at Fredericksburg Academy on October 13th.
