R-MC Uses Balanced Scoring Attack to Defeat Emory & Henry 82-66; LaHaye Earns 499th Win

Box Score

EMORY, VA--- Randolph-Macon had four players score in double-figures in a, 82-66, ODAC victory on the road at Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon.  Head Coach Carroll LaHaye picked up her 499th career victory, moving her just one shy of the 500 win milestone.

The Yellow Jackets (5-6 / 3-3 ODAC) were led by Maggie Roy who had a solid all-around game.  The senior finished with 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks on the afternoon.  Sarah Parsons added 17 points and a career-high six steals.  Taylor Wieczorek just missed a double-double with 13 points and nine boards and Lindsey Sharman chipped in 10 markers.  Jillian Asay pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds.

Michelle Williams paced Emory & Henry (1-6 / 0-5 ODAC) with 17 points in the contest, while Carlyta Hamm posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Wasps.

R-MC jumped out to an early 8-4 lead off an Asay jumper five minutes into play and never looked back as the women would never trail in the contest.

E&H would battle back though, using a 6-2 run over the next two minutes to cut the deficit to 11-10.  That's as close as the Wasps would come though, as the Yellow Jackets took a 35-27 advantage into the intermission.

A Parson's jumper at the start of the second stanza would push the lead to double digits for the first time at 37-27.

Emory & Henry used a 12-5 run to cut the lead to five, at 55-50, midway through the final period.

Randolph-Macon responded with a 13-4 run of its own over the next six minutes led by five points from Parsons and four from Roy.  R-MC would go on to sink 8-of-10 free throws over the final minute to put the game away.

The Yellow Jackets out rebounded the Wasps 55-46 on the afternoon.  R-MC also committed a season-low 11 turnovers and forced 21 E&H turnovers, including 15 steals.  The Jackets were solid from the charity stripe as well, knocking down 22-of-33 free throws (71.9%).

Randolph-Macon returns to action Tuesday when they play host to Virginia Wesleyan.  Game-time is scheduled for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
