Box Score 2 Randolph-Macon Baseball scored six of the 12 batters they sent to the plate in the sixth inning on the way to a 14-8 game one win over Washington and Lee Saturday in Ashland. The Generals used a four run eighth inning rally to take game two of the doubleheader 8-6.
Jordan Walton finished 5-for-10 at the plate with a double and three RBI to lead R-MC. Greg Mitro drove in a game high six runs with a double and two singles. Andrew Cheatham went 3-for-5 with a homerun, a double and two RBI.
Jamie Hendrick picks up the game one win after allowing four earned runs over seven innings with four strikeouts. James Bierlein is saddled with the game two loss after giving up up three earned in two thirds of an inning.
C.J. Thompson paced the W&L attack with a 6-for-8 outing that included two triples, two doubles and four RBI. Mike Decembrino went 3-for-4 in game two with a triple and three RBI.
Jody Davis allowed four earned runs in an inning and a third in a losing effort. Joe Gannett walked two but did not give up a run in an inning of relief for the game two win. Mike Palicz tossed a scoreless final inning for the save.
Singles from Brian Jordan and Jeb Weymouth in the first inning of game one set up Walton who singled home Jordan to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 advantage.
Cheatham pushed the R-MC lead to 2-0 in the second when he belted a one out solo homerun.
Washington and Lee tied the game in the top of the four on an Alex Maragos solo shot along with a Thompson run scoring triple.
Randolph-Macon quickly retook the lead in the bottom half with an RBI single from Michael Helbig and went on top 4-2 on a Jordan sacrifice fly.
The Yellow Jackets broke the game open with a six run bottom of the sixth. R-MC sent 12 batters to the plate and took advantage of three hits and three W&L errors. Peter Culver drew a bases loaded walk and later scored on a Mitro sacrifice fly.
Washington and Lee put up two runs in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 10-4 but Randolph-Macon answered with four in the bottom half, three coming on a Mitro double, to pull away for the 14-8 win.
