Box Score The Eagles used a six run rally in the fifth inning to down Randolph-Macon Baseball 6-1 in Fredericksburg Tuesday afternoon. R-MC falls to 8-6 on the season while No. 22 Mary Washington improves to 11-1.
Tyler Kane is saddled with the loss for the Yellow Jackets after allowing six earned in four and two thirds innings. The sophomore lefty struck out three and issued three free passes.
Brian Jordan and Nick Digby both had two hits and a double to pace the Randolph-Macon offensive. Jay Lichter added a double and drove in the Jackets' only run.
Parker Talbert picks up the win for Mary Washington after scattering three hits and giving up no runs over six innings. Seth Jordan led the Eagles' attack with a 2-for-4 game at the plate including a double. Shane Sixsmith drove in two runs with his only hit of the game.
UMW led off the fifth with three consecutive singles that loaded the bases for Sixsmith who singled to right, bringing home two runners. Beattie Southerland drove in a run with a single before Brent Steffey plated Sixsmith with a sacrifice fly. A Jackson Clement single and a Jordan double capped the inning with two more runs to put Mary Washington up 6-0.
Greg Mitro and Jeb Weymouth led off the ninth with singles for the Yellow Jackets. Lichter brought Mitro around to score with a double to right center for R-MC's only run.
Randolph-Macon Baseball travels to No. 3 Shenandoah University Wednesday, March 9th for a 3:00 contest.
