Box Score 2 Randolph-Macon improved to 9-1 overall with a pair of wins over Virginia Intermont 3-0 and Rowan 5-1 on the final day of the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast Tournament.
Heather Lewis scattered three hits and struck out five to pick up the complete game shutout win against Virginia Intermont Saturday morning. Kristen Dize gave the Yellow Jackets their second solid pitching performance of the day in game two against Rowan. Dize allowed just one hit, struck out five and allowed no earned runs (one unearned) for the complete game win.
Megan Shepherd drew a walk in the second inning against Virginia Intermont and advanced to third on a Morgan Greene double. Lewis then stepped to the plate and delivered a double to score both runners.
Michalann Camp scored on a Shepherd sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to put Randolph-Macon up 3-0.
After Lewis gave up a hit to start the seventh, the southpaw retired the side to give the Jackets a 3-0 win.
Lauryn Nanny led off the game against Rowan with a single and scored on a Laura Bauer single to give R-MC an early 1-0 edge.
The Profs tied things up in the fourth after Ashley Landi scored on a Randolph-Macon error.
Lacey Berry and Alex Gregoire belted back to back two runs doubles with two outs in the top of the sixth to put the Yellow Jackets back on top 5-1.
Dize silenced the Rowan bats in the final two innings to secure the 5-1 Randolph-Macon victory.
R-MC Softball returns to action Sunday, March 6th when they host Franklin & Marshall for a noon doubleheader. Rain is forecasted for the area Sunday afternoon and should any changes to the game occur they will be posted on athletics.rmc.edu
