ASHLAND, VA – Behind 18 saves from goalkeeper Jason Crawford, Randolph-Macon knocked off defending Landmark Conference Champion , Goucher, 13-12 in men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon in Ashland.

R-MC (3-1) got hat tricks from Tim Rowe, Justin Butler and Brian Rowe, while Patrick Egan, Jake Leddy, Brett Austin and Jason Andrews all had scores in the win as well.

After Goucher's Rory Averett opened the scoring at the 12:28 mark of the first quarter, R-MC reeled off four straight goals, taking a 4-1 lead on a Brian Rowe goal with just under four minutes to go in the first period.

Pierce Ingram made the score 4-2, 44 seconds after Rowe's goal and that is how the first stanza would end.

R-MC's Butler scored at the 11:52 mark of the second quarter before Averett struck again with 9:40 to go in the half to make the score 5-3 .  

The Yellow Jackets would finish the first half on a 3-1 run, taking an 8-4 advantage when Tim Rowe scored with 4:41 left in the half.

Averett and Kyle Boncaro scored the first two goals of the second half to bring Goucher within two at 8-6 with 12:50 to go in the third.

R-MC then got four answered goals, two coming off the stick of Tim Rowe with single strikes from Brian Rowe and Egan, to go up 12-6 with 3:38 to play in the third quarter.

The teams traded the next two goals with Brian Rowe extending the R-MC lead to 13-7 with just under 11 minutes to go in the game.

Goucher rallied scoring five goals in the last 10 minutes of the game, but it would not be enough a Crawford made keys saves down the stretch to preserve the win.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when heads to Shenandoah for a 3:30 pm game.
