Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, -- After dropping game one, Randolph-Macon
earned a key ODAC doubleheader split with Virginia Wesleyan
behind a strong performance in the circle from Kristen Dize and Brandi Wilson
and timely hitting from Lauryn
Nanny in game two. R-MC took the nightcap 3-1
following a 6-1 loss earlier in the day.
R-MC (15-3 /6-2 ODAC) trailed 1-0 at the end of the first inning
of game two, before Megan Shepherd
led off the second frame with a solo homerun to knot the game up
1-1.
Later that same inning, Michalann Camp
singled with one out, moved to second on a fielder's choice off the
bat of Alex
Gregoire and scored on a two-out RBI single from Nanny, putting
R-MC up 2-1.
Dize made the one run lead hold up, going five innings,
scattering just four hits after the VWC first inning. Dize
walked just one batter and struck out one to improve to 6-0 on the
season.
R-MC tacked on an insurance run in the top of the sixth when
Camp singled with one out and moved to second base after a
sacrifice bunt from Gregoire. Camp would move up on wild pitch
before Nanny delivered another two-out, running scoring single to
push the Jackets' lead to 3-1.
Wilson entered the game with no outs and a runner on in the
home-half of the sixth. Wilson proceeded to get out of that
inning and end the game throwing two innings of relief, allowing
just one hit to pick up her first save of the season.
In game one, MacKenzie Creech tossed a complete game for VWC,
allowing just one run on six hits, while striking out six in the
Marlins win.
R-MC's lone run of the game came in the first inning when Morgan Greene
and Paige
Smith had back-to-back singles with one out. A pair of
wild pitches by Creech allowed Greene to score later in the
inning.
Randolph-Macon is back in action on Sunday when it hosts
