Box Score ASHLAND, VA -- Randolph-Macon scored 12 unanswered goals in a run that spanned the majority of the second quarter to the middle of the fourth quarter to top visiting King's 16-4 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, R-MC is 5-1 for the first time since 1994.
The Yellow Jackets got five points from Tyler Midwinter (4g, 1a), Brian Rowe (3g, 2a) and Jake Leddy (3g, 2a) in the win, while Kevin Patton and Patrick Egan both had a pair of scores for R-MC as well.
Randolph-Macon held a 40-20 advantage in shots, a 29-24 edge in ground balls, while the Jackets man-down unit held King's to 1-for-8 on the day.
With the scored tied at 1-1, R-MC got back-to-back goals from Leddy and a tally by Midwinter to go up 4-1 with 1:37 to go in the first quarter.
After Lenny Fox scored for King's (1-3) with 49 seconds to go in the first frame, cutting the R-MC lead to 4-2, Rowe, Midwinter, and Taylor Wicke registered second quarter goals to stake the Jackets to a 7-2 lead at the intermission.
Randolph-Macon got six goals in the third quarter to put the game away with Leddy closing out the quarter scoring with 49 seconds left on the clock, putting R-MC up 13-2 after three.
Rowe and Patton tallied scores in the fourth quarter with Patton's goal pushing the R-MC lead to 15-2 with just under 10 minutes to go in the game.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Christopher Newport at 3:30 p.m. in Ashland.
