Box Score SALISBURY, MD -- Taylor Wicke led the Randolph-Macon attack with three goals as R-MC Men's Lacrosse downed Wesley College 13-7 to open the 2011 season.
The win marks the first win in the head coaching career of R-MC head coach J.B. Sheridan who is in his first season on the R-MC sidelines.
R-MC (1-0) scored the first three goals of the game tapped off by a Wicke goal with 1:05 to go in the first quarter of the game.
After Eric Crumbock closed out the first quarter scoring with a goal at the 16 second mark, R-MC extended their lead to 5-1 on goals by Tim Rowe and Tyler Midwinter to open the second stanza.
After R-MC took a 6-2 lead into the locker room at the intermission, Wesley scored four of the seven goals in the third quarter to cut the R-MC lead to 9-6.
R-MC closed out the game when Wicke, Justin Butler, Jake Leddy and Kevin Patton scored to opend the fourth quarter and put the Jackets up 13-6.
Jason Crawford played all 60 minutes in goal, making 10 saves on the night for the win.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Sunday when it takes on Southwestern (TX) at 12:00 p.m. in Ashland.
