Box Score ASHLAND, VA -- Sarah Parsons led three Yellow Jackets in double-figures with 21 points as Randolph-Macon knocked off Randolph, 76-48, Wednesday night in ODAC Women's Basketball action in Ashland.
R-MC (3-4 / 2-2 ODAC) also got a career-high 14 points off the bench from Kellie Cortina, while Maggie Roy added 12 points for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets controlled the boards, out rebounding Randolph 60-42. Taylor Wieczorek led the way with a game-high 10 rebounds, while Cortina had eight and Parsons chipped in with seven of her own. Parsons also had five of the Yellow Jackets' 11 steals on the evening.
The R-MC defense held the WildCats to 25% shooting on the night, allowing Randolph to make just 16-of-64 shots from the field.
Randolph-Macon jumped out to an early 10-0 lead when Cortina sank a jumper with 15:25 to go in the opening half.
Randolph battled back, cutting the R-MC lead to 18-12 on a Lauren French three-pointer with just under nine minutes to play.
The Yellow Jackets put the game away with a 25-4 run to close out the opening stanza. The run featured eight points from Parsons and a bucket by Lindsey Sharman with under a minute to go, sending R-MC to the intermission in front 43-16.
The second-half would prove to be more of the same as R-MC built its lead to as many as 36 halfway through the final period and would go onto its second league win of the year.
Randolph (2-5 / 0-4 ODAC) was paced by French who had 12 points in the loss. Brianna Lowry had nine points, while Courtney Bouchard had eight in a losing effort.
Randolph-Macon will be off until December 18th when it will take part in the Puerto Rico Classic. R-MC will take on Alvernia on the 18th at 11:00 a.m. and Franklin & Marshall on December 20th at Noon.
