Box Score Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball (13-4 / 11-1 ODAC) shot a blistering 50% from the field in the second half on the way to a 75-57 win over Lynchburg and their 11th consecutive ODAC victory Tuesday night in Ashland.
Junior Taylor Wieczorek notched her fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds while her classmate Maggie Roy dropped in a game high 21 points to go with her five boards and five assists.
Lynchburg's Katie Crump knocked down the games' first two baskets to put the Hornets up 4-0 but the Yellow Jackets answered with 12 straight points to take a 12-4 lead with 14:31 left in the first.
The Hornets rallied in the final minutes of the first period to cut the lead to 30-27 on a pair of Caitlin Falls free throws but a Jennifer O'Briant layup pushed the R-MC advantage to 32-27 heading into halftime.
After a Wieczorek jumper started the second half, Lynchburg scored seven of the next nine points to pull within two with 17:46 to play.
Roy ended the Hornets' run with five straight points that ignited a 19-4 Randolph-Macon that ended on a Christina Phelps layup to make the score 55-38 with 10:33 on the clock.
Lynchburg cut the lead to 13 on a Courtney Brewer three with 6:13 to play but that would be as close as the Hornets would come as the Yellow Jackets pulled away for the 75-57 win.
Brewer paced the Hornets with 15 points while Falls finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Randolph-Macon shot 41.3% for the game including a 15-for-30 mark in the second half while holding Lynchburg to a 33.9% mark. The Jackets held a 47-39 edge on the glass and are 11-0 in conference games when outrebounding their opponents.
R-MC returns to action Saturday, January 29th when they host Virginia Wesleyan for a 2:00 ODAC matchup. Saturday's game will also be the Jackets' annual Back to the Hive event.
