LEXINGTON, VA -- No. 18 Washington and Lee scored seven
unanswered goals over the span of the final three quarters to break
open a close game and take an eventual 12-6 home victory over
Randolph-Macon in the quarterfinals of the 2010 ODAC Men's Lacrosse
Tournament.
After Joe LaSala put W&L up 1-0 just 42 seconds into the
contest, R-MC's Taylor Wicke knotted
the game a 1-1 with a tally at the 12:27 mark of the first quarter.
Logan Bartlett put the Generals back on top before a Patrick Egan strike
tied the game again with 6:19 remaining in the first stanza.
The game stayed that way over the next 16 minutes of play thanks
in part to Jackets' keeper Adam Liberto who
made 15 of his 22 stops in the first half. However, W&L's Will
Keigler scored with just over three minutes left in the half and a
Luke Walter score with 1:14 left sent the Generals to the locker
room with a 4-2 lead.
W&L would score the first five goals of the second half,
taking a 9-2 advantage on a Keigler score with 11:04 to go in the
contest.
Tyler
Midwinter and Egan each finished with a pair of goals for R-MC,
while Billy Rowe dished out four assists.
R-MC finishes the season with a 7-8 record. Washington and Lee
improves to 11-5 and will take on Roanoke on Sunday in the ODAC
semifinals.
