Box Score ASHLAND, VA—Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse scored
five of the games' final six goals but No. 20 Hampden-Sydney
held on for the 12-8 win in Ashland Saturday. The Yellow Jackets
finish the regular season 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the ODAC, good for
a bid to the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament.
Micah Keller struck twice for the Tigers in a 20 second span to
give H-SC a 2-0 advantage with 12:11 to go in the first
quarter.
Patrick Egan (Annapolis, MD/ St. Mary's) put the Yellow
Jackets on the board with an unassisted goal at the 9:36 mark of
the first quarter.
After Carter Mavromatis put Hampden-Sydney up 3-1, Jake Leddy
(Annapolis, MD/ St. Mary's) took a Billy Rowe (Baltimore,
MD/Calvert Hall) pass and scored a man up goal to pull
Randolph-Macon within one. R-MC converted on 3-of-5 man up
opportunities for the game.
H-SC scored five consecutive goals in the second quarter, four
coming from Kyle Jett to give the Tigers an 8-2 halftime
advantage.
Egan netted an unassisted goal just 39 seconds into the third
quarter to cut the deficit to five.
Hampden-Sydney then struck with three goals before Egan scored
again unassisted for the Jackets with 3:54 to play in the third
quarter.
Randolph-Macon's Egan, Leddy and Taylor Wicke (Fairfield,
CT/ Fairfield-Warde) scored the first three goals of the fourth
quarter to pull within four at 11-7.
The two teams exchanged goals over the final five minutes and
Hampden-Sydney closed out Randolph-Macon for the 12-8 win.
R-MC Goalie Ryan Reechia (Towson, MD/ Towson) made eight saves
during his 30 minutes in goal. Egan finished with four goals and an
assist to lead the Yellow Jackets. Senior Billy Rowe assisted on
three goals in his final regular season home game.
Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse now awaits their seeding,
opponent and location for the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament
which will being Wednesday, April 28th on the campuses
of the higher seeds.
