ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team used
four, fourth quarter goals and goalkeeper Adam Liberto made
several key stops down the stretch as the Yellow Jackets topped
ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan 11-10 in Ashland on Wednesday.
With R-MC trailing 9-8, with under 11 minutes to play, Tyler Midwinter
scored to tie the game with 10:40 on the clock.

Wicke then put the Jackets out in front for good with a goal on
a pass from Brian Rowe with 8:44 left in the game. Midwinter then
struck again just over a minute later to extend the R-MC lead to
11-9.
VWC pulled within one at 11-10 on a Adam Nycz EMO strike with
2:43 remaining.
With just over 1:22 to play, VWC's Damien Becker had a chance to
tie the game, but Liberto made one of his five saves in the final
quarter to preserve the lead for R-MC.
With 54 seconds left, VWC forced a turnover and was able to set
up for a final shot, but R-MC's Patrick Egan forced
a turnover and the ground ball was picked up by Michal Chernega as
time ran out.
Midwinter finished the game with four goals, while Josh Merwin
and Jake Leddy each had a pair of scores in the win. Egan finished
with two assists and Liberto turned away 10 shots on the day.
Nycz tallied four goals in a losing effort, while goalkeeper
Tyler Keech made 19 stops in net.
Randolph-Macon out shot Virginia Wesleyan 51-48 and won the
ground ball battle 46-41.
R-MC will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts
Hampden-Sydney in the regular season finale at 1:00 p.m.
