SALEM, VA – No. 7 Roanoke used 10-0 run midway through the
game to score a 19-8 victory over Randolph-Macon in ODAC Men's
Lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0, the Yellow Jackets' Kevin Patton scored with just
under 11 minutes to go in the first quarter to tie the game up. A
Patrick Egan tally with 2:28 to go in the opening stanza put R-MC
(6-6 / 2-3 ODAC) up 2-1 after one.
Back-to-back goals by the Maroons' Brian Foley and Jeff Keating
put RC (14-2 / 7-0 ODAC) on top 3-2 with 8:46 to go in the half.
Randolph-Macon then got scores from Egan, Jake Leddy, and a
man-up goal from Brain Rowe to push head 5-3 with 5:03 on the
clock.
A Keating goal with nine seconds left and a Richard Lachlan
score as time expired in half, tied the game 5-5 at the
intermission, and sparked what proved to be the decisive run for
the Maroons.
RC would score the first eight goals of het second stanza,
taking a 13-5 lead on a Ashton Hotchkiss goal with 6:21 to go in
the third.
Egan led R-MC with four goals, while Leddy and Billy Rowe each
had a pair of assists in the loss. Adam Liberto and Ryan Reechia
combined to make 15 saves in net for R-MC.
Keating and Foley led RC with four and three goals, respectively
on the afternoon.
R-MC will back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Virginia
Wesleyan in a key ODAC game at 4:00 p.m.
